The Youth Division will practice primarily at MVP Sports in Minooka. Late October – December teams will practice twice a week with one day (weekend day) being small group instruction that will broken down based on their position. On those days of small group instruction players will rotate through Hitting Instruction, Fielding Instruction (Based on Position) and Strength & Conditioning Training with a certified Strength Trainer.
Starting In January and going through the end of March, 10u age levels & above will practice 3 times a week at MVP Sports with two days Monday – Friday and one weekend day. Weekend training will continue on with Small Group Instruction in the same format of the October – December Training. During the week practices will have one day of team practices of 1 hour infield time and 1 hour cage time. The Third practice will be a rotation of pitching instruction, a second day of strength training and hitting training.
A typical Practice week for age groups 10u & above will look like:
1st practice (Midweek) – 1 Hour of Fielding; 1 Hour of Hitting
2nd practice (Midweek) – 40 minutes of Pitching Instruction, 40 Minutes of Hitting, 40 Minutes of Strength Training
3rd practice (Weekend) – Small Group Instruction: 45 Minutes of Positional Fielding Instruction, 45 Minutes of Hitting with Instructor(s), 45 Minutes of Strength Training with Trainer
Prep & High School (HS) Division
The Prep & High School Divisions will practice primarily at MVP Sports in Minooka and have the option to train at The MAX one day on the weekends. November – December teams will practice twice a week with one day (weekend day) being small group instruction with Strength Training that will broken down based on their position at MVP Sports. The weekend day of training will take place at The MAX and all Top Tier South teams 13u & Above will be training with their appropriate age division in combination with other Top Tier locations.
Starting In January and going through the end of March, 13u age levels & above will practice 3 times a week with two days Monday – Friday at MVP Sports and one weekend day at The MAX. High School levels will cease training in early March once High School tryouts take place.
A typical Practice week for age groups 13u & above will look like:
1st practice (Midweek) – Team Practice: 1 Hour of Fielding; 1 Hour of Hitting at MVP Sports
2nd practice (Midweek) – 45 minutes of Pitching Instruction & Fielding Instruction for Non Pitchers, 45 Minutes of Hitting Instruction, 45 Minutes of Strength Training at MVP Sports
3rd practice (Weekend) – Small Group Instruction: 45 Minutes of Positional Fielding Instruction, 45 Minutes of Hitting with Instructor(s), 45 Minutes of Strength Training with Trainer at The MAX
Number of games, location of tournaments and number of in-season weekly practices will be determined by each team’s coaching staff. Top Tier South puts an emphasis on development and practicing/training throughout the course of the season but we also want to make sure players are getting proper rest/time off in between team activities. Each team will have two practice slots, one indoor and one outdoor, each week that will be at their disposal to continue in season development. There may be weeks that teams may only practice once depending on their game schedule and tournament game schedules for that particular week.
